The new president of Spalding Rotary Club is to raise money in memory of his mum.
Graham Dawson has taken on the role from Sarah Chalcraft.
In his term he’s looking to raise money for three charities, the Rock School Bus, Defibrillator Purchase and Breast Cancer Now.
While president he hopes to raise enough money for at least one new defibrillator for the town.
Graham also wants to back the music charity and one that supports those with breast cancer such as his mum Jane Pearson who died from the disease.
Members, partners and honorary members went along to see the handover at The Woodlands Hotel.
Outgoing president Sarah handed over the chain office to Graham.
She thanked all the members for their support over the year and wished the new president continued success.
President Graham also thanked the outgoing club officers, secretary John Syson and assistant secretary Melvyn Price, who have both held their posts for the last three years
They will be superseded by John Ralph and Howard Gelley respectively.
Graham said: “We have an ambitious year ahead of us, and myself and the new incoming team of club officers and project leaders will continue to support the existing projects as well as several new community initiatives and fund raising events which will allow the club to support includes local charities and environmental causes.
“In addition there are several youth projects including the Let’s Sing choir competition for junior schools, the Young Chef and the Let’s Make Music competitions for schools.
“Spalding Rotary Club is also sponsoring a student from Spalding Grammar school to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards which is a week-long leadership course held at Grafham Water.”
