LETTERS – Grateful for hotel good news

I am finding it quite hard to find words to express well enough my delight at the wonderful news that Sir Joan Hayes, our MP, has heard from the Home Office that the former Bridge Hotel, at Sutton Bridge, is NOT to be used as an asylum hostel.

Immense gratitude is due to the unanimous and consistent replies to the ides, including to Nick Worth and the cabinet and to senior officers at South Holland District Council, to Michael Booth my fellow councillor for Sutton Bridge, and above all to the local residents who turned up in their hundreds to the public meeting, and over five hundred of them who signed the petition which was organised.

Thank you all very much, and it just goes to prove what can be achieved, if everyone speaks out with one, consistent voice!

Chris Brewis
SHDC District Councillor Sutton Bridge and Wingland
