Hundreds of responses have been received as a consultation on how a new group should use government money to improve Spalding ended this week.
Love Spalding has been set up to oversee the £20m of Levelling Up funding after the town was branded ‘left behind’.
It’s been asking residents how it can help improve the town and how it should look to spend the money.
At the latest count, made a week before the deadline, there had been just short of 500 representations, Love Spalding chair Robin Hancox told The Voice.
Heritage walks around Spalding have also been carried out, while last weekend surveyors went door-to-door canvassing residents.
Mr Hancox thanked those who had responded and said the process of looking through the representations had already began.
“We’ve appointed an expert to help us go through the analysis of the results ahead of our scheduled meeting on July 8,” he said. “We’re still working to that deadline of August 8.
“There’s been lots of useful and really constructive feedback from the surveys and a lot of work gone in to getting the views of people in the town.
“Some suggestions might not fit the criteria as set out by the terms of the project, but there’s still some useful suggestions among those that we’ll be able to use to form ideas or push those on to others who may be able to work with it.”
Of the number of responses and views, Mr Hancox said: “I think it’s above many other areas in terms of and consultation numbers.
“I know it’s quite a small share of the number of people who live in Spalding but when you compare it to similar consultations carried out in other towns then it ranks pretty highly.”
While many local authority assisted projects came to a standstill due to the General Election on July 4, Mr Hancox said that the Love Spalding board had been unanimous in its decision to carry on.
“Certain projects have had to be curtailed,” he said. “But as a board it’s a case of business as usual as we had built up momentum and we didn’t want to lose that.
“There’s certainly been a lot of work gone into this behind the scenes and we’re looking forward to residents seeing what plans are brought forward.”
As previously reported, one of the things Love Spalding is looking to do is purchase the old Johnson Hospital.
