Spalding United boss Rayment not feeling any FA Cup ‘magic’

Spalding United boss Pat Rayment admits that Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup trip to league rivals Coalville Town (3pm) is something of a damp squib.

Rayment reckons that neither side will be overly inspired by drawing each other in the second qualifying round.

But he does believe that his side have a great chance to advance and pull a dream draw with the likes of Boston United or Lincoln City in the next round.

The Tulips chief said: “When the draw came out I don’t imagine either side were doing cartwheels.

“It’s just not an exciting game for us. Coalville will be a little happier as they’re at home.

“Both sides will know that they have a great chance to progress to the next round – and then you’d hope to get a big draw. Our best case scenario would be to get either Lincoln City or Boston at home, that’s what we’d hope for.”

The winners of Saturday’s tie will earn £4,500 in prize money.
