LETTERS – Students lack safety knowledge

We have on dash cam, a youth, shooting out of Love Lane onto Cowbit Road, not looking, not slowing, swerving around a parked van and only looking back after swerving back in, as he stood up peddling as wobbling along the road.

He was followed by what looked like an angry swarm of bees – lads on bikes.

But it’s not only the cyclist that don’t look.

The Grammar School pupils swarm out along Haverfield Road up to London Road. Many are too posh to turn and use the pedestrian crossing, instead walk straight across talking to their friends with no regard for others. They often do the same on Cowbit Road to get the buses.

The children from schools swarm into and across town with little or no thought of safety for themselves or others.

If these schools are teaching them to be safe, its not working.

It’s only a matter of time before more children are injured whilst going to and from school.

It’s a nightmare at school time for road users.
