Recognising gardens work

Councillors say they’ll continue to support the gardens at Ayscoughfee after a recent event celebrating £375,000 worth of improvements over the last year.

Ahead of the Johnson Water Fountain being installed, there’s been a host of works carried out, including a new Changing Places toilet created with £50,000 of government funding as part of the refurbished cafe.

A full refit of the lake is among other works carried out by South Holland District Council in the past financial year.

Coun Rodney Grocock said: “It is vitally important that we continue to preserve and highlight South Holland’s cultural and heritage assets for future generations to learn from and enjoy, and Ayscoughfee Hall and Gardens is a great example of this.

“We are committed to protecting this jewel in the crown of the district, and the investment we have made into the site will help to showcase the fantastic things it has to offer and the glimpse it can give into our history.

“Ayscoughfee is a wonderful, peaceful and joyous place to visit for people of all ages, and we aim to ensure it remains that way long into the future,” Coun Elizabeth Sneath added.
