GAME OFF: Spalding United’s Tuesday trip to Gresley falls victim to the rain

Spalding United’s Evo-Stik League First Division South trip to Gresley (Tuesday night) has been called off after a pitch inspection.

Heavy rain in Derbyshire ensured the need for a noon pitch inspection on game day – and the Moat Street surface was swiftly deemed unplayable.

The postponement does at least give the Tulips a bit of respite ahead of their gruelling festive schedule of three games in nine days.

Marcus Ebdon’s charges host seventh-placed Basford United on Saturday (3pm), before visiting Lincoln United on Boxing Day (2pm) and then welcoming Gresley to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on December 28 (3pm).
