Celebrating Santa’s helpers

Representatives of charitable groups and good causes came together on Tuesday, February 4, at The Woodlands Hotel, Spalding, for an evening with members of the Rotary Club of South Holland where donations were made to them for all for their help in December’s Christmas Sleigh campaign.

President Jon Martin thanked them for their help with the collections explaining that they could not have achieved such a successful collection without them.

Organisations who were represented on the night were: Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding Rugby Club, South Holland Duke of Edinburgh Awards Group, Spalding Cycling Club, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Spalding Gym Club, Hope and Homes for Children, St John’s School PTA, Spalding and District Young Farmers, 5th Spalding Rainbows, Spalding and Welland Rotary Club, Wygate Park Academy PTA, Pinchbeck Girl Guides – (5th Spalding Brownies), PHAB and Spalding Weight Watchers Group – supporting Garth School.

A Rotary spokesman said all who attended enjoyed a buffet super and the visitors explained to members how they intended to use the cash donated.

The spokesman added: “Anyone who would like to learn more about the work of South Holland Rotary Club or would be interested in becoming a friend of Rotary or helping us in our work for the community is welcome to contact our Secretary Ian Smee on 01775 714722.
