Vet’s taking to the skies for charity

A vet is taking her passion for pets to new heights by jumping out of a plane at 13,000ft in aid of a cat charity.

Ashley Horne will bravely take to the air for a tandem skydive on Saturday and is hoping people will sponsor her to support the Spalding branch of Cats Protection.

Ashley, who is a vet at South Lincs Veterinary Group based in Holbeach, has been involved with the charity for about five years.

She said: “I usually help out by fostering cats that come into Cats Protection that are poorly or injured, but about three months ago Sandra, who runs the Spalding branch, asked if I would do a parachute jump. We were in the pub and she caught me off guard and in a moment of weakness I agreed.

“It will be the second skydive I have done. My first was for my 21st birthday and it’s fair to say it is a shock to the system.”

Ashley (33) will undertake her daring deed at Sibson Airfield, near Peterborough, and has set herself a target of £600.
