Royal Mail Cart are celebrating a century (plus one)

A year after it was originally due to be played, Royal Mail Cart took on a Bowls England team to celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary.

The game was played over six rinks of fours (18 ends) followed by a meal in the Mail Cart pub.

The England team had travelled from as far afield as Dorset in the south and Yorkshire in the north but returned home beaten after the hosts won comfortably on five rinks, but still seemed to enjoy their visit to Lincolnshire.

More than 60 players and guests enjoyed the meal and a raffle made nearly £400 for the club, in addition to a bowls spider won by Keira Thurston, which raised £50.

That will be donated to Visually Impaired Bowls England.

Thanks were expressed to the players from both teams and their supporters, the pub for the meal and use of their facilities and to those who helped organise and run the day
