Spalding United made it back-to-back wins in Evo-Stik NPL First Division South with a 2-0 success over Newcastle Town thanks to goals from Cenk Acar and James Tricks (penalty) at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
Holbeach United enjoyed the best result of the day, beating ChromaSport UCL Premier Division leaders Newport Pagnell 2-0 on their own patch.
Lewis Leckie notched twice for the Tigers, including inside the opening 30 seconds, as Seb Hayes side moved to within six points of the summit with three games in hand.
Pinchbeck United, meanwhile, were 3-0 winners at Potton United to extend their healthy lead at the top of ChromaSport UCL Division One to ten points.
Debutant Aaron Eyett was among the scorers, while Ollie Maltby and Andrew Tidswell also bagged.
Spalding are back in action on New Year’s Day as they travel to Cleethorpes Town (3pm).
