Spalding Indoor Bowls Club triumph in ‘needle’ clash against Lincolnshire Vice Presidents

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s friendly team enjoyed a big 132-78 win over the Lincolnshire Vice Presidents (VP) on Saturday.

As a number of the Spalding squad are also VPs, the game was a needle match of the two factions – with friendly rivalry making the game all the more enjoyable.

Spalding actually fielded more women than men, which is credit to the club displaying the value placed on the ladies’ to perform on a level platform.

Indeed, Spalding’s winning rink had a strong female presence, with the lead of Jan Sinclair, partnered by Gill Haydon, Gerald Horner and skipped by Maisie Belding.

They won handsomely by 39-12 scoreline.

Being the home team, Spalding established their dominance quite early in the game and then built on their lead to finish with a strong 52-shot advantage having won on five of the six rinks played.

The team captain for the game was Roger Perkins. He was assisted by his wife Edna.
