Consti have made a good start to the Spalding & District League season with two straight wins and are the early leaders.
Despite losing the first game to Services, Vince Fitter (o15), came out on top 200-185 against Alan Hansard (r65).
Wins also came from Mick Johnson (o100) and Stewart Davies (r45) against Nigel Cherry (r75) and Phil Spencer (r60) respectively. Davies also scored the highest break of the night with 36 in Consti’s 5-2 success.
A changed Broadway team from last week saw them go down 5-2 at Gosberton. The hosts’ Des Forbes (r55) had a close game, winning 200-190 against Femmi Akinlade (r50). Akinlade built a lovely 39 break, showing great potential. Team mates from back in the 80s, Marcus Pell of Gosberton (o40) played Andy Wheatley (o5), with Pell winning 200-162. Broadway’s Wole Akintola (r50) salvaged two points by beating Shane White (o35) in a close game 200-188.
Donington B were the only team to score a maximum 7-0 win, at Pyramid B, with wins from Mat Turner (r50), Neil Reynolds (o15) and Neil Burton (r65) against Maurice Phillipson (r80), Phil Cooke (r95) and Darrell Read (r25). They were helped by an unfinished 35 break from Reynolds.
Level on nine points with Donington are Pyramid A, who managed a 5-2 victory at Holbeach A. Holbeach’s Ben Harding (o15) scraped home 200-194 to John Clapton (r95), helped with breaks of 31 and 23. John Twell (r65) squared things up by beating John Dawson (r45) 200-147. Dawson made a joint highest break of the week with a 39. Oli Player (r35) sealed the win, beating Phil Coaten (r90) 200-162.
Donington A hold a mid-table position after a 5-2 win at Holbeach A, with successes from Ben Wrigglesworth (r10) and Tony Scully (r45) against Andy Spearman (r85) and Neil Harvey (r35) respectively. Holbeach’s Denis Hix (r65) claimed the two points by beating Jim Thompson (r65).
