A woman who witnessed two people allegedly trying to break into a Spalding building is fuming at the lack of police interest.
The witness even sent Lincolnshire police a picture of the scene (right), and called 999 while it was all taking place on March 18.
Two officers arrived at the old gym on Spring Gardens, searched the two involved, had a chat and let them go.
“I was astonished, so I waited for an officer to come to my house to take a statement. No-one came.
“I then decided to put in a complaint due to their lack of action on the same day as the crime,” she added.
Both her parents were police officers and she has friends who serve now.
“I knew the officers should have come to me to take a statement,” she said.
After a week of not hearing anything further from the police she decided to chase for a response of any sort.
“The two had still not been arrested and my statement had still not been taken.
“No contact had been made from Lincolnshire Police to myself.
“I received an email on March 25 to say my complaint had been handed to a local inspector. I was told she would be on duty on April 5 and would be in contact with me.
“True to their word, I received an email to say she would get back to me after she had completed the investigation. I swiftly replied to say I hoped she would come and take my statement.”
When the witness contacted the Voice on April 15, there had been no word from officers and no arrests reported.
“I find this incredibly disappointing of the force. I have asked if people are allowed to go around causing criminal damage and attempted burglary as it is no longer an arrestable offence?
“I will not be holding my breath for any action by the force, in spite of us all paying Council Tax. I feel very let down.”
Lincolnshire police was contacted for comment but had made no reply at the time of going to press.
