New mural put in place

A mural has been put up in Spalding just days after planning permission for it was granted.

Flos Pompa is a ceramic work created by 390 members of the public working with Greenfield Pottery as organised by Transported Arts.

It followed a £30,000 Arts Council grant with £5,000 from the Town Centre Improvement Scheme and was meant to brighten the Abbey Passage.

However it’s now been erected on Herring Lane though is currently covered up.

A spokesman for Transported Arts said: “Flos Pompa has been installed in a new position that allows the artwork, that ended up being larger because of the numbers of schools and community groups that wanted to contribute.

“After it’s grouted, Transported be taking some high-quality photographs to produce some beautiful postcards that capture the lovely colours of the piece. Transported will be holding a celebratory launch event in the summer, when the postcards are ready for distribution.

“We’re so pleased to have the piece installed after such fantastic and supportive engagement from the schools and community groups that helped create it with Greenfield Pottery and encourage the public to follow Transported on our social media and keep an eye on our website for updates and announcements regarding the launch and postcards.”
