Winter break for restoration

Restoration work on Spalding’s Lutyens War Memorial has been halted for the winter.

The memorial, in Ayscoughfee Gardens, has undergone some restoration work following an extensive clean and detailed analysis of work.
Repointing, repairs to the top and corrected subsidence have all been undertaken but no more hands-on work will take place until the spring.
“I am delighted that we are now making good progress in restoring his important local monument,” said Coun Henry Bingham.
“It is vital that any work is carried out with the level of care needed for such a historic listed memorial.”
The work has been halted so the risk of damage is minimised.
