Wallis edges out improving Lister at latest Spalding Cycling Club time trial

Josh Wallis continued his recent good form with another top time at Spalding Cycling Club’s ten-mile time trial league last Tuesday.

As always seems the case, there was a brisk breeze – but once out on the course it was better than expected.

Wallis took first spot in a time of 22.37mins, just ahead of Tim Lister – who is starting to provide some serious competition – on 22.47mins. Neil Palmer, disappointingly for him, took third place (23.04mins).

Other times: Kieran Buffham 23.44mins; Adam Ellis 24.29mins; Mark Hills 26.38mins; Tom Wright 26.44mins; James Bramma 27.14mins; Rob McAlinden 30.15mins; Gary Hignett 33.19mins; Sophie Wright 33.26mins; Brian Johnson 33.30mins; Ben Cleghorn 36.57mins.

  • The following evening, Lister was quickest at Fenland Clarion’s ten mile time trial.

On an undulating course at Helpston, his time of 22.17mins couldn’t be beaten.

This was followed up on Thursday night with another good time of 21.49mins in the Sleaford Wheelers ten mile time trial, which secured him second spot.

  • Thursday saw the social riders take a 54-mile scenic trip – via Dowsby Fen, Billingborough, Folkingham and Newton – to Sylvia’s Cafe at Heckington and back.
