Oldest person in county dies at 109

Lincolnshire’s oldest person has died at the age of 109 having spent her whole life in Moulton Chapel.

Brenda Carrott was delivered by her midwife grandma Elizabeth in the house bought by her father Thomas before he died in World War One. She remained in the house her whole life.

The world was a very different place when she was a child born in 1917.

Brenda (pictured) would have been 11 when women were given the same voting rights as men, 12 when the Wall Street Crash sparked the great depression and 31 when the NHS was established.

She lived through 25 Prime Ministers starting with David Lloyd George and saw her fourth monarch; George V, George VI, Elizabeth II and Charles III.

Her son Peter and his wife Claudia flew over from their home in California to mark her last birthday in October and she video-called her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“She’s never worried and always has a positive attitude,” said Peter during her celebration.
