Walk on the wild Easter bonnet side

Residents in and around Sezanne Walk got into the Easter spirit at the weeked with a special coffee morning.

The Spalding Community Centre at the heart of the supported living community held an Easter bonnet competition as part of its celebrations.

South Holland District Council chairman Jan Whitbourn and Coun Annette Chapman were among the judges of the entrants.

There was also a special performance by the John Bland Memorial Choir as well as fun and games including a raffle and tombola with £185 raised going towards other events including putting on events, crafting and days out.

Coun Whitbourn said: “It was a great morning that was well attended.”

Out of 18 entrants Linda Mancey took home the first prize with Jean Shipton second and June Hardstaff third.

Organiser Angela Ablett said: “We are a small community centre with a big heart, we are part of an independent living community which covers Sezanne Walk, Speyer Avenue and Parkside Crescent and our events are usually well attended, we welcome local residents, their friends and families and others from Spalding and surrounding area.

“We hold weekly coffee events every Wednesday, 11am to 12pm followed by exercise and chatter until 1pm.

“Monthly events include fish and chip lunches, afternoon teas and talks.

“We are very fortunate that the residents who use the community centre come regularly, they are very welcoming and inclusive and every day is a fun day out guaranteed.”
