Sutton on track for double

Long Sutton Athletic stayed on track for a league and cup double as they kept hold of the Spalding Inter-Services Cup.

The 2024/25 winners beat Crowland Town Reserves 2-0 in the final at Carter’s Park and now switch their focus to picking up the five points they need to secure the Peterborough League Division One title.

Charlie Ford put them ahead from a back-post header, with Corey Compton wrapping things up soon after the break when he capitalised on a poor clearance from goalkeeper Chris Brooke to score.

Klyden Lleshi led the way for Crowland’s first team in the Premier Division with a hat-trick in their 6-0 win at FC Peterborough Reserves.

Harry Grigas, Archie Rickards and Adam Blackbird also scored to leave Town five points behind leaders Netherton United with a game in hand and four others to play.

Declan Earth also hit a treble to help Moulton Harrox to a 5-1 win against Whittlesey Reserves. The other two came from man of the match Jack Forster.

Danny Firth scored for Whaplode Drover Rovers in their 2-1 defeat at Sawtry.
