Pinchbeck United 1
Coventry Sphinx 5
Pinchbeck United have been hit by vandals.
The club opened a new hospitality area last month but found it had been destroyed over the weekend
Manager Lewis Thorogood said: “One month into having our new hospitality area which is being enjoyed by many on match days and helping the club be self sufficient, it is sad to say it has been badly vandalised and destroyed in the last few days.
“We won’t be beaten and will move forward!“
On the pitch Pinchbeck lost 5-1 at home to Coventry Sphinx in an Chromasport UCL League Cup fixture played on Sunday afternoon.
After a quiet opening Pinchbeck initially gained the upper hand against the UCL Premier South’s third placed side, but found the Sphinx keeper Duncan Van Den Top in fine form.
He denied Avi Viera on several occasions and Neal Spafford in one of several good openings for the home side.
But a Matthew Shipman double including one on the stroke of half time put the UCL South Premier team in front.
Coventry controlled things after the break with Lawrence Rawlings, Callum Stewart and Leo Stone putting the visitors 5-0.
With 14 minutes remaining Elliot Foster fired a fine direct free kick from 20-yards out low to the keeper’s right for a consolation.
It’s back to UCL Premier North action at the Sir Halley Stewart this Saturday for Pinchbeck.
And it’s another tough fixture with league leaders Melton Town the visitors.
