An early Carl Stewart goal sentenced Spalding United to a 1-0 defeat at Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night as the Tulips’ four-game unbeaten run came to an end.
Stewart notched for the hosts on six minutes, racing clear to slot past keeper Michael Duggan.
Spalding had their chances to level with Gary King twice going close and Nathan Whitehead seeing a long-ranger tipped over, but Frickley held on.
Meanwhile, it was a mixed night for Pinchbeck United as they won 4-2 at Raunds Town in the ChromaSport UCL Knockout Cup – but fielded the cup-tied Edgaras Buzas.
Signed from Wisbech Town last week, Buzas scored the first and last goals for the Knights, but his involvement means they are likely to be booted out of the competition.
Chris Shipley and Corey Kingston got the other Pinchbeck goals.
