Teen Jake’s charity role

A Spalding 15-year-old has been named as a charity’s ambassador.

Jake Winkett has, for the last five years, saved up his own money to buy Christmas presents for various charities and this year provided a ‘Giving Tree’ for the Kids Out charity that aims to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

As well as providing presents, the charity also puts on fun days, provides experiences and helps provide multi-sensory equipment to those that benefit from it.

Jake’s mum Julie says the Spalding Academy pupil is already saving up to buy presents for next year and is also looking forward to taking on a sponsored walk when government guidelines allow it.

Jake said: “I chose to help Kids Out after hearing about all the children who possibly wouldn’t get any presents.

“And decided I wanted to get involved and buy as many presents as I could.

“I will also continue to support the charity by fundraising including a sponsored walk.”

A Kids Out spokesman said: “After showing amazing initiative from our Giving Tree 2020, Jake is continuing to help Kids Out with various fundraising activities in his local area.”
