Takeover for popular Spalding book store

Popular Spalding book store Bookmark has been taken over by the team behind Charmed Interiors.
Jason Sutton, who owns Charmed Interiors’ Spalding and Downham Market stores, took the reins at The Crescent book shop last week.
Christine Hanson, who has had 25 successful years at the helm, leaves the business on Friday.
Darren Sutton, who is e-commerce and sales manager at Charmed Interior’s Spalding store, will be overseeing the day-to-day running of the book shop.
He said: “We plan to keep things very similar to the way they are now with a bit of extra investment.
“We’re looking at rebranding Bookmark and as part of that will be creating a new website and logo.
“We will be refurbishing the coffee shop and adding a wide variety of dishes to the menu, along with offering afternoon teas.
“The selection of books on offer will remain the same but we intend to stock a new range of gifts, and we will be installing a new till system.”
Darren said Jason is delighted with the way Spalding has received Charmed Interiors in the two years they have been trading and was delighted to expand their presence in the town with the acquisition of Bookmark.
He added: “Christine has established a wonderfully popular business over the past 25 years and we are looking to build on that.
“We have a cafe at our Downham Market store and Jason saw an opportunity to own something similar in Spalding.”
Jason intends to keep on the 16 full and part-time staff members, along with recruiting a couple more.
Darren added: “The book signing evenings are very popular and we will be continuing those.”
