LETTER: Holbeach must work together

I was saddened by the remarks from some of the local businesses on Holbeach market.

I’m sorry to find that it is traders versus traders – we should be working in harmony to resolve the situation to achieve a better Holbeach.

The High Street businesses would rather work hand-in-hand to achieve a solution to this situation rather than mud-slinging and accusations, remarks such as “the long-term viability and sustainability of the market was the council’s priority” (Roger Gambba-Jones)seems a bit one-sided. The priority must surely be for the whole of Holbeach.

We need better co-operation from those in authority to help solve the situation and bring us together and to engage in a consistent orderly manner without struggling in opposition.

This hostility is not doing any good for business relations – everyone is watching our performance, we need to conduct ourselves in such a manner to bring this to a conclusion where all businesses and members of the public are happy.

There is a solution to this, we need to do it in a professional manner, please.

The likes of John Hayes, who has always taken a very keen interest in what happens here must get involved, as his influence has always been welcomed.

Others that have been elected must also stand up or stand down.
