The Spalding and District Table Tennis League is hoping to attract more members after seeing numbers drop well below the necessary break-even point over the close season.
With the popular World Cup and Wimbledon on television in June, numbers attending the league’s Wednesday sessions at the Castle Sports Complex have become disappointingly low.
Over the four Wednesdays in June, a total of only 19 from the first division and 16 from Division Two have attended – while there have been 27 visitors.
One boost for members was the Spalding Voice Invitational Cup, which went down very well with players in the league.
And with the all-new National Table Tennis Day, an initiative set up by Table Tennis England, coming on July 17, it is hoped that more people will return to the league.
As ever, the league’s open sessions will continue every Wednesday at the Castle (7.30pm), with all welcome to attend.
