Summer packed full of events

A host of events have been organised to keep the kids busy this summer.

South Holland District Council’s Communities team will be leading the events throughout the summer holidays, starting with Love Parks Week: Celebrating Our Outdoor Spaces.
They will take place on: Tuesday, July 30: St Johns Road Play Park, Weston Hills, PE12 6DG, 11am to 3pm
Wednesday, July 31: Snowden Field, Crowland, PE6 0AL, 11am to 3pm
Thursday, August 1: Matthew Flinders Park, Donington, PE11 4TA, 11am to 3pm
Friday, August 2: West Street Park, Long Sutton, PE12 9BN, 11am to 3pm
They will be replacing the Activity Days.
A spokesman for the district council, said: “This new event aims to raise awareness of the wonderful free outdoor spaces available in our district.
“Bring along a picnic and enjoy activities such as Slackline School, circus skills, theatre performances, arts and crafts, park bingo, nature trails, sports, games and a trailer cave. Activities may differ at each event. We will also be joined by the Co-op, Wildlife Trust, Rhubarb Theatre and other partners.”
Give it a Go is back and will this year take place at Carters Park in Holbeach on Saturday August 10, from 11am to 3pm.
Local sports and community groups will be offering demonstrations, taster sessions, and information alongside a climbing wall, arts and crafts, live stage performances, and more.
New for 2024 is a Bike Jam taking place in Spalding on Tuesday, August 20, from 11am to 4pm at the skatepark on Holbeach Road.
There will be a bike pump track and taster tracks for children and families to try.
Communities team leader at South Holland District Council, Alison White, said: “We are delighted to again offer a diverse range of activities this summer, providing opportunities for families to explore, play, and enjoy the fantastic outdoor spaces in our district. These events are a wonderful way to bring our community together and create lasting memories.”
