Surprises as centre reopened

A Spalding community centre has reopened after its recent refurbishment.

The centre at Sezanne Walk is primarily for the residents of the sheltered housing scheme nearby.
It’s one of several South Holland District Council is in the process of renovating.
To celebrate the reopening residents held a tea party with district councillor Jan Whitbourn putting on a bingo session for its users.
She got South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes to officially open the residence.
Those associated with the centre decided to carry out their own surprise and made a cake for Jan congratulating her on recently being awarded a British Empire Medal in the King’s birthday honours list.
A plaque was also made by residents marking the occasion.
“I was shocked,” said Coun Whitbourn. “What an honour it was from a group of amazing people.”
