Step back to wartime at Rauceby weekend

Looking for somewhere to go this upcoming Bank Holiday weekend? Then look no further.

The seventh Rauceby War Weekend takes place on August 29, 30 and 31, giving visitors the chance to step back in time.

Over the weekend there will be fashion shows, hair demonstrations, dancing lessons with Air Raid Jive, living history displays, re-enactors, a large selection of military vehicles and classic cars and the Battle of Britain memorial will be doing various flypasts.

If that’s not enough there will be various stalls and an arena where there will be a staged battle each day, vehicle parades, military bands playing and other demonstrations.

There will be plenty of entertainment for children with an old fashioned funfair, and participation events like grenade throwing and a rifle/boot camp drill.

There is plenty of food sold on site with a NAFFI selling homemade wartime type sandwiches and cakes and a bar selling real ales and other drinks.

Admission is £6 per person each day (under 12s go free). Pre-book your tickets and get the discounted price of £5 per person per day.

Saturday night will see a 1940s-style Victory Ball for 300 people held in the marquee on site.

Entertainment will be provided by the Ashby Big Band, Paul and Melissa Harper and Heather Marie, all backed by DJ Woody’s War Dept.

This is a ticket only dance and tickets are £15.

So, dig out your outfits from the loft, get dressed up and be part of this grand event and help raise money for the Air Ambulance, Royal British Legion and Marie Curie Cancer Care while having fun.
