The annual Deeping Raft Race again made a splash, raising money for charity and entertaining thousands of visitors along the banks.
This year’s Best of British theme saw Spice Girls drift down the River Welland, along with an ingenious amphibious take on the famous three-wheeled van from the sitcom Only Fools and Horses.
Organiser Andy Pelling said: “The 2017 Deepings Raft Race was another great crowd puller.
“We had 31 rafts in various categories and some fabulous designs to go with this year’s theme.
“Add to that all the people that turned up in some wonderful fancy dress outfits, all the stalls and displays contributed to a superb event.”
The final figures are still being counted but Andy hopes to beat 2016’s impressive figure.
“Last year we raised over £6000 for good causes and we are hopeful of topping that this year,” he said.
