Snooker leaders finally Bourne SC A finally come unstuck at Donington

Donington C edged out Bourne SC A 4-2 to smash the last remaining unbeaten record in Spalding and District Snooker League Division One last week.

Graham Slater’s (R7) 90-43 victory over Oli Player (O28) in the final frame secured the win for Donington, who were also buoyed by triumphs from Neil Reynolds (O49) and Neil Favell (O14) against the leaders.

Winning duo Reynolds and Favell both made breaks of 24, while Max Ayliff (O14) did manage a 22 break for Bourne – who saw their five-game winning run ended.

That loss allowed Holbeach A to move level on points with the leaders, after they won 4-2 at Services A.

Bobby White (O14) starred with a 28 break in that win, while Mark Hubbard (O14) sealed the win with the crucial final frame.

Donington A are hot on their heels in third after a 5-1 victory at Boundary A. Gavin Lewis (R7), Tony Scully (O14), Peter Keal (R14) and Jim Thompson (O7) got the frame wins.

The best break of the week in the top tier came from Bren Bowman (O56). His 40, followed by a 25 clearance, helped Tulips A defeat Long Sutton A 4-2.

Mark Woodberry (O42) was another on-song. His 32 break steered champions Tulips B to a 4-2 victory at Consti F – which was their first win of the campaign.

In Division Two, Pyramid B continue to make the early running at the top.

They were 5-1 winners at Crowland B, with Spencer Dawkins (O49) and Jason Green (O56) making breaks of 32 and 30 respectively.

Fellow high-fliers Holbeach C suffered only their second loss of the season as Pyramid D handed them a 4-2 reverse.

Marcus Hamilton (O35) starred with breaks of 40 and 32 for the Bourne boys.

Third-placed Crowland C were 5-1 winners over Boundary C, with Paul Spicer (O7) trousering a 32 break.

At the other end of the table, Shane Davies (O14) pocketed a 25 break as his Gosberton D side registered their maiden win of the campaign. They beat hosts Services D 4-2.

In Division Three, Consti A won the big second versus third clash with club rivals Consti J 4-2. Steve Hall (R7) settled a tight tussle by beating Stu Davies (O28) in the clincher.

Whittlesey B are still looking for their first win after a 4-2 defeat at Gosberton A, who had Geoff Wand (R21), Carl Wand (scr) and Andy Ward (R14) to thank for their success.

The best break at this level came from Darren Crosby (O21), who amassed a fine 30 in Bourne SC B’s 5-1 victory over Services B.

Elsewhere, Susan Lefley (R21) won two frames in the same game as Long Sutton C beat hosts Consti D 5-1.

David Lefley (scr) also chipped in with a 23 break to help seal an impressive win.
