Seven wins in seven put Whittlesey at top

Whittlesey C continued their unbeaten run in Division Three of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night.

A 5-1 win over Gosberton B saw them rack up seven wins in seven matches, retaining their position at the top of the table and making them the only team in the league to have not lost a match so far this season.
Wins from Neil Burton (O14), Garry Thewliss (R7), Jason Bloomfield (O7) and Simon Parker (O7) helped to see off Gosberton, whose only winner was Nigel Goodwin (R21).
Second placed Gosberton D, who have played one match more than Whittlesey, beat friendly foes Gosberton C 4-2.
Brad Brinkman (O14), James Parott (R7) and Dan Hanger (R7) all won for the D team, with James Elliott (O7) and Stuart Tamplin (scr) the victors for the C team.
Consti J are in third place having fallen 4-2 to Whittlesey A, who are fourth.
Whittlesey’s winners were Andy Gebbie (R21), Malc Bruce (O7) and Jason Clarke (scr).
Consti E lost only their second match of the season so far on Thursday, going down 4-2 to Pyramid A.
Jake Pettit (scr), playing twice, was Consti’s only winner. He got them off to a good start with a 47-10 win over Victor Rouse (scr), followed up later with a 72-61 victory against John Twell (014), but Michael Twell (R7), Matthew Chapman (O7) and Norman Vaughan (021) took their frames – and the match – for Pyramid.
Sutton Bridge are holding the table up with only one win so far.
They lost 4-2 at home to Holbeach C.
Carl Parnell (O28) and Shane Balding (O56) got the wins for Sutton, while Terry West (R14), Paul Ashton (R14) and Nick Edwards (scr) sealed the match for Holbeach.
Bourne SC B took the spoils in a close match with club-mates Bourne SC A.
Elliot Gaunt (O21) took the first frame for the B team, before Carl Gibson (O14) hit back.
Max Ayliff (O14) put the A ahead with a third frame win over Pete Smith (O7), then Gary Surridge (O7) made it all square.
The deciding frame went the way of Joey Scampion (R7) who beat Oliver Player (O35).
The win means the B team are in second place in the table, with the A team in fourth.
Pyramid C, who are second from bottom in the standings, beat mid-table Services A 4-2.
A 25 clearance from Jason Green (O56) and a 33 break from Richard Skellett (O14) helped them on the way to the win.
Services C are in third place after beating Holbeach A 5-1.
Even a 54 break couldn’t help Sean Swinburn (O49) to a win over Mark Spiller (scr).
Services D are top of Division Two after a 4-2 win away to Holbeach F.
Adrian Liquorish (R14), Jake Haslam (scr) and Courtney Boulding (R14) got the wins for Services, who are now three points clear at the top, having lost only one match this season.
Consti I remain bottom of the division having lost 5-1 to Holbeach B.
Pete Stokes (scr) was the only winner for Consti.
Sitting just two points above Consti, Gosberton A also went down 5-1, beaten by Consti B.
Gosberton, who have only one win under their belts, were seen off by John Christian (R7), Steve Spencer (R21), Martin Fear (scr) and John Keeton (O7).
Alan Jackson (O7) snatched the solitary point for Gosberton.
Services E boosted themselves up the table slightly with a good 5-1 away win over Pyramid B.
Joel Shears (R7), Paul Spicer (scr), Kevin Robbs (R14) and Ian Smith (scr) won the first four frames.
Phil Cooke (R7) walked away with the final frame, averting a 6-0 whitewash.

A 7-0 victory has put Gosberton at the summit of the Spalding and District Billiards League.
Shane White (O50), Marcus Pell (O30) and Des Forbes (R60) completed the whitewash over Consti B, pushing them from fourth in the standings to take the top spot.
Breaks of 29 and 22 couldn’t help Mick Johnson (O160) to a win as his team went down without winning a frame.
Holbeach B also elevated themselves to second with a 7-0 win over Pyramid B, who were top last week.
Denis Hix (R70), Chris Chamberlain (R60) and Neil Harvey (R60) all took their frames to complete the drubbing over Maurice Phillipson (R70), Neil McLean (R90) and Darrell Read (R40).
Breaks of 64, 29, 29 and 22 weren’t enough to secure a win for Mick Cooper (O190) but his Holbeach A team still secured a 5-2 win over Donington.
Wins from Phil Coaten (R70) and Ben Harding (R40) over Nigel Brasier (R70) and Tony Scully (R40) respectively saw Holbeach to victory.
Cooper lost to Ben Wrigglesworth (R20) 200-163.
