Horsing around at home

A horse walked into a care home and he was the only one with a long face.

Care assistant Emma Bishop surprised residents and the team at Holbeach Meadows Care Home when she brought along her horse Boss to meet them.

Boss and Emma Bishop are pictured above with Martin Johnson below.

Sweet natured Boss, who is 21, was happy to let everyone fuss over him and enthusiastically accepted some juicy red apples from his new friends.

This gentle giant made the day very special and put a smile on everyone’s face. Boss was the perfect guest and Holbeach Meadows hope he will come again.

Deputy manager Maxine Appleyard said. “When Emma said she would like to bring Boss along to meet residents I was a bit apprehensive, but I needn’t have been, he was gentle and sweet and everyone absolutely loved him.

“It really was a lovely surprise for residents and the team.

“It’s not every day a horse comes to visit us but he will most definitely be a frequent visitor. We love Boss the horse!”

Elsewhere at the care home new front of house manager Martin Johnson is bringing in extra talents.

A keen singer and entertainer, he’s been singing and dancing for the residents.

A spokesman said: “Martin proved to be a huge hit with his audience and kept everyone toe tapping and moving along to their favourite pop classics.

“He also popped in some Rock ‘n’ Roll numbers through a medley of Elvis hits, and indulged in a spot of old-fashioned schmoosing with the audience for his crooning numbers.”
