Parity will be a distant memory for the two Spalding sides as the Women’s East League Division Two North West draws to a close. This season saw the first and second teams playing in the same division but in the 2025/26 campaign they will be two levels apart.

The newly crowned champions completed their home programme in style with a convincing victory over the club’s second string, who have finished bottom of the standings. However, the second team can claim a small victory in that this defeat was better than November’s reverse fixture, which they lost 12-0.
The first team again showcased their attacking prowess, while the seconds put in a determined defensive effort, particularly Grace Hodgett with an outstanding performance at centre-back alongside Sam Maltby and Leanne Isaac Pick.
Honor Moore made an excellent pass for birthday girl and player of the match Jess Ball to slip in captain Charlotte Maplethorpe to score the opener past visitors’ goalkeeper and player of the match Char Burt.
A well-taken strike from Ellie Holland made it 2-0 and the third came from an excellent ball from Maplethorpe that released Moore to score.Holland and Moore increased the lead to 5-0 at half-time.
A brilliant ball through to Georgina Maplethorpe saw her finish in the bottom left corner before the final goal saw her sister Charlotte score her second.
Despite the speedy Erin McMurray proving difficult to mark, the seconds were unable to find a consolation.

Spalding put one over their relegation rivals in Division Four North West with a two-goal success.
The first half started at a rapid pace, going back and forth, but Kirsty Gammons held strong at centre-back.
Sam Foston hit a post before Emily Wright opened the scoring.
In the second half, Spalding continued to dominate with Kelly Tizzano having a strike disallowed.
Honor Pearson doubled the lead from a short corner and Spalding held out for victory with Eliza Morris impressing in goal.
Player of the match award went to Honor Pearson.
