Cranfield leaves it late

Harry Cranfield’s last-gasp equaliser earned Pinchbeck United a Thurlow Nunn League Division One North point at Haverhill Borough on Saturday.
Unfortunately, it was not enough to save the Knights’ play-off hopes and they will continue to play at Step 6 next season – although which league they will be in is still to be confirmed.
They could stay in their current league but are being forecast for a switch back to the United Counties League.
Haverhill went ahead after 15 minutes but Nathan Stevens levelled just before the break.
The hosts’ premature celebrations began when they regained the lead in the last minute but they had not taken account of Pinchbeck’s determination and Cranfield swooped in the third minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2, their third draw in four games.
Flynn Slater took the man of the match honours.
Knights: Martin, Thorrold (Tate), Gagyi, Melson, Cranfield, Brooks, Howlett, Stevens, Slater, Cullen, Williams. Sub: Barker.
Attendance: 31.
