Saturday football: Tigers progress in Emirates FA Cup but Knights are dumped out

South Holland duo Holbeach United and Pinchbeck United endured mixed fortunes in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.

It was joy for Holbeach, who saw off Fakenham Town 2-0 at Carter’s Park thanks to first-half goals from Jack Smith and skipper Spencer Tinkler.

Danny Hussey’s side will make the trip to play Coby Town in the next round.

However, Pinchbeck’s wait for any kind of win in an FA competition continues after they suffered a 1-0 loss at Gorleston.

Elsewhere, Spalding United suffered a 2-1 home loss against Corby in their final pre-season friendly.

Jamie Jackson gave the Tulips a 1-0 half-time lead at the Sir Halley, but the visitors netted twice after the break.

Spalding start their league season at Sutton Coldfield Town this Saturday.

In the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division, champions Moulton Harrox picked up a 1-0 win at Oakham United, with Long Sutton Athletic enjoyed a 2-1 home success over Peterborough North End Sports.

But Tydd suffered a 7-3 drubbing at ICA Sports and Holbeach United Reserves were upset 3-1 at Uppingham Town.

In Division One, Crowland Town enjoyed a 3-2 victory at Stilton United and Spalding Town were crushed 6-1 at Wittering Harriers.
