Saturday football: Pinchbeck dumped out of FA Cup, Moulton go five points clear

Pinchbeck United’s dream of playing in the Emirates FA Cup turned into a nightmare on Saturday as Rothwell Corinthians handed them a 3-0 beating.

The Knights had beaten the same opposition 2-1 just seven days ago, but goals from Louis Odell, Ryan Kenyon and James Stephenson secured an Extra Preliminary Round win for the hosts.

To make matters worse for Pinchbeck in what was their first-ever game in the competition, Tom Sergeant was sent off just after the half time whistle.

The defeat is Pinchbeck’s first since September, 2017.

Meanwhile, Moulton Harrox made it four wins from as many ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division games with a 2-0 win at Ketton. Harrox are already five points clear at the top.

Also in the top tier, Tydd held Peterborough Sports Development 1-1, while Long Sutton are still looking for their first point after being edged out 1-0 at home by champions Netherton United.

Sutton Bridge United shared six goals with Whittlesey Athletic in a 3-3 thriller, while Holbeach Reserves battled back to draw 2-2 with Stamford Lions at Carter’s Park.

Elsewhere, Spalding United drew their final pre-season game 1-1 with Grantham Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
