Saturday football: Holbeach go top with big win, Deeping outgun Pinchbeck and Spalding secure away draw

Holbeach United hit top spot in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division table with a victory at Desborough Town on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United lost their derby with Deeping Rangers and Spalding United drew at BetVictor NPL South East Division high-fliers Belper Town.

Starting in the UCL, Holbeach maintained their mammoth unbeaten run with a comprehensive 4-0 victory at Desborough.

Liam Adams, Johnny Lockie, Michael Frew – who also saw a penalty saved – and Will Bird all scored to send the Tigers to the top of the table.

At the other end, Pinchbeck United threatened to pull off a big upset against Deeping Rangers before eventually succumbing to a 4-2 defeat at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Debutant Adam Richardson starred with two goals as the Knights went 1-0 and 2-1 up, but they shipped three goals in the second half and stay second-from-bottom.

Up In the BetVictor NPL, Spalding almost pulled off a fine with at Belper.

Skipper Lewis Brownhill netted twice as the Tulips led 1-0 and 2-1, but Alex Peterson’s late leveller denied them all three points.
