Saturday football: Bucci bags winner for Tulips, Tigers earn decent draw and Knights suffer a late loss

Spalding United enjoyed a fine 1-0 win over Ilkeston Town on Saturday, while Holbeach United were held to a second successive 0-0 draw and Pincbeck United lost their 15th game on the spin.

Starting with the Tulips, they moved up to eighth place in BetVictor NPL South East Division with a first home win since back in September.

Gianluca Bucci’s deflected 36th-minute free-kick settled the contest at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field and moved Spalding to within four points of the play-offs.

In the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division, Holbeach United picked up a decent draw at title rivals Loughborough University.

The stalemate leaves Danny Hussey’s side fifth in the table, four points behind new leaders Rugby Town.

However, Pinchbeck United remain in big trouble near the foot of the table after a 77th-minute goal handed them a 1-0 loss at Oadby Town.

To make matters worse for Ian Dunn’s side, Sleaford Town – the only side below them – beat Desborough Town 1-0 and are now just a point behind the Knights.

More to follow.
