Poignant walk makes strides on mental health fight

A walk to raise awareness of mental health issues was well supported.

Organised by Coun Mark Le Sage, in memory of his father Malcolm, who took his own life 25 years ago, and Vanessa Browning, of Community Mind Matters, the Walk and Talk event took place at Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Gardens.
It’s part of Vanessa’s Red January walks to improve mental health.
Mark said: “I’m very pleased to say we had a lovely turnout to what will now be an annual event at Ayscoughfee.
“Around 25 people joined myself and Vanessa for the walk and talk, followed by a coffee in the cafe.
“Of course it’s open to everyone, as I always say you don’t have to be diagnosed with a mental health condition to join us but just by being there you might make a huge difference to someone that has.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has been in touch over the last few days.
“Your messages have all been so kind and I am extremely grateful for your support.”
Vanessa added: “It was a very good event with a great turnout and we will continue with more walks in the year.
“A huge thanks goes to everyone that has supported us.”
