Players are set for a dressing down

The St Nicholas Players will be serving up a comedy treat next week.

Don’t Dress For Dinner is at the South Holland Centre from Wednesday to Saturday, March 15 to 18.

The comedy is by Marc Camoletti and Robin Hawdon.

Set in a renovated barn, just outside of Paris, the audience finds Bernard.

He is eager to get his wife out of the house for the weekend as it is his mistress, Suzanne’s birthday and he has plans.

He is inviting her for a cordon bleu meal prepared by a chef he has arranged.

As an alibi, he has also invited his best friend Robert.

When his wife, Jacqueline gets wind of Robert coming, she soon changes her plans, as Bernard doesn’t know Robert and Jacqueline have been conducting their own secret affair for years!

Due to an initial mistake Robert makes by thinking the cook, Suzette is Bernard’s Mistress, the whole weekend descends into disaster.

A spokesman for the Players, said: “Following on from the success of A Tomb with a View, Director Glen Barker and Producer David Whipps were asked to put together this hilarious comedy for the St Nicholas Players.

“With a mixture of new and old members making up the talented cast, alongside the usual St Nicholas backstage team creating an amazing set, rehearsals began in early January.

“It is very unusual for the entire production team to laugh out loud during rehearsals, but the hilarious writing combined with superb acting, laughter can often be heard throughout each rehearsal session.

“This comedy really is one not to be missed.”
