Pinchbeck United are hunting for their second Lincolnshire derby win in seven days as they visit Sleaford Town on Saturday (3pm).
The Knights, full of confidence after last weekend’s 2-0 victory at Boston Town, will once again be underdogs for the game at Eslaforde Park – given Sleaford’s upturn in form this season.
Regular relegation candidates in recent seasons, the hosts sit 11th in this year’s Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North standings having done more than enough to secure their survival.
Pinchbeck go into the game in the drop zone, but boss Lewis Thorogood knows his side have a good chance of leapfrogging rivals Selston and Newark if they can grab another three points.
He said: “You have to give Sleaford credit, they are much improved this season and have already done enough to secure their status in this league for next season.
“For us, it’ll be a similar game to the Boston Town one and we’ll have to play very well to get a result.
“I know they were watching the Boston game, so I’ll be interested to see how they set-up.
“For our part, we have a plan to beat them and we have the belief that we can. There’s a lot of football still to be played, but it would be nice to get out of the relegation zone and put more pressure on our rivals.”
Pinchbeck welcome back Neal Spafford and Archie Moyses to the squad for the derby against Sleaford, who have won three of their last four.
