Medal spree and two top titles for South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club at Grantham

South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club picked up two impressive awards at the Grantham and Lincoln Vulcans open meet over the weekend.

The Spalding-based club took a team of nine swimmers to Grantham Meres Leisure Centre event on Sunday – and they walked away with the coveted Top Club prize.

In the individual stakes, it was a day to remember for Luke Blanchard as he bagged the Top Boy award.

Before those prizes were dished out, South Lincs racked up medals galore.

The team, led by coach Luke Elliott, consisted of Rosanna Abbott, Naomi Blanchard, Luke Blanchard, Mollie Briggs, Emma Croker, Bailey Jackson-Chilvers, Molly Paxton, Edward Skells and Esther Skells.

All swam superbly as each and every one of them achieved personal best (PB) times, while many more county qualification times for 2017 were obtained.

Amazingly, Luke Blanchard stole the show with an incredible haul of ten gold medals – a feat which secured him the Top Boy gong.

Briggs also bagged four gold medals and two bronzes, while Jackson-Chilvers picked up four golds of her own and two bronzes.

Also on winning form was Croker, who secured two gold medals and one silver.

More medals came from Abbott (one silver), Edward Skells (three silvers and three bronzes) and Esther Skells (one silver and one bronze).
