Bell captures the Flag after double victory at Welland Yacht Club regatta

Two wins out of three earned Tom Bell overall victory at Welland Yacht Club’s Flag Officers Cup on Sunday.

In what was the third regatta of the season for the Spalding-based club, Bell won races two and three to pip his rivals to the crown.

Race one saw nine boats take to the starting line – three of which were manned by junior members.

It was a closely-fought race for the top four places, but Paul Burton emerged victorious ahead of Ros Nickols in second, Bell in third and fourth-placed Emma Agar.

The second race saw the field depleted to six, but again it was closely contested.

This time it was Bell who managed the win, with Burton back in second and Nickols third. Andy Agar completed the top four.

That top four was replicated in race three, leaving Bell and Burton on five points apiece. However, Bell’s two wins saw him take the overall win, with Nickols completing the top three.
