May the fourth be with you! Holbeach United boss Hayes eyes win on final day

Seb Hayes wants Holbeach United to finish their ChromaSport UCL Premier Division with a victory on Saturday as they bid to claim fourth place.

The Tigers conclude another campaign at Kirby Muxloe (3pm), knowing that three points would leave fifth-placed Deeping Rangers needing maximum points from their final three games to overhaul them.

The last time Holbeach finished fourth was back in 2016, but they already have 13 more points that that team achieved.

Boss Hayes admits that the Wednesday night’s Lincs FA Junior Cup final victory over Grimsby Borough will probably spur his side one at Ratby Lane.

He said: “Obviously we want to win the game. I feel like that would be enough to get us fourth place.

“That’s what I want us to do, but I do feel Wednesday’s game will play a part.

“We’ll be relaxed and go there confident in our ability to play some decent football.

“Ideally we’ll go there, win the game and finish as high as we possibly can.

“If we finish the season on a high, it sends out a message for next season. I feel I’ve proven myself as a manager here and that the players have proven they can perform well at this level.

“We need to make a few tweaks, but we’re not far off.

“The higher we finish in the table, the easier it’ll be for me to recruit players this summer.”
