LETTER: Do not judge a book…

Sadly, my mother, who reached 96, Jessie Irwin passed away at 3am on Thursday, September 7 at the Southernwood House Wellbeing Residence, and it is to the management team and staff I would like to convey my many thanks.
Southernwood has not had the best reviews lately generally due mainly to the fact that the decor may not compete with the more modern purpose-built homes.
This may be so, but it cannot take away from the most effective and caring service of the staff.
Mum’s last days were so well nursed for by the sympathetic and understanding team.
There are too many names to mention but I like to point out the manager Jacy Huddlestone, who made not only Mum comfortable but catered for our every need during this difficult time.
Also, I would be remiss if I never said a big thanks to the “Chuckle Sisters,” Di and Sally, who throughout the end-of-life days provided a light hearted but seriously sympathetic attitude.
Additionally, the two nurses, Gemma, and Mel, who were on night duty at the time of Mum’s passing dealt with her maintaining her dignity throughout.
Please do not judge a book by its cover, Southernwood is a brilliantly well controlled and most efficient rest home. Thank you again.
