Leiston loss puts a dent in Tigers’ play off hopes

Holbeach United’s play-off hopes suffered a set back last Saturday, but they’ll have plenty of opportunity to bounce back over the Christmas period.

The Tigers slipped out of the top six of the Thurlow Nunn First Division North after losing 2-1 at Leiston Under 23s on Saturday.
The hosts put a bit of daylight between themselves and the relegation places thanks to the result.
The Tigers fell behind early but levelled on the stroke of half time through Sam Harris’ header from a corner.
Leiston made it 2-1 with 15 minutes to go as Oliver Griggs scored his second of the game.
A fracas brought red cards for both the home side’s Joshua Yaxley and Ryan Cook late on, but the Tigers were unable to find a leveller.
Manager Danny Clifton called the defeat ‘disappointing’ but felt the home side deserved the win.
The Tigers fell to seventh in the table after AFC Sudbury Reserves went above them in the table.
That’s who visit Carter’s Park this Saturday however as Holbeach look to get back to winning ways.
They then travel to Swaffham on Boxing Day for an 11am kick off.
Then, on Saturday, December 30, Holbeach are back at Carter’s Park with Norwich side Dussindale and Hellesdon the visitors in a 3pm kick off.
Tigers: Rigby, Greenacre, Cook, Nicholson, Ling, Oldham, Hoyle, Barnes, Harris, Frost, Yambasu. Subs: Robertson, Thorne.
Attendance: 27.
