Jake set to grow gift tree

A Spalding teenager is hoping businesses and organisations will back his annual bid to get presents to those who might not otherwise receive one this year.

Jake Winkett (18) has been an ambassador for the KidsOut charity for three years.
It helps young people whose families have fled domestic abuse.
Jake himself has put on a gift tree before Christmas for several years.
And he’d like others to get involved.
His mum Julie recently started working for the charity and said: “This charity is very important to us both.
“We would like to open it up to local companies in the area to become involved by offering donations it is not just toys, we offer food parcels, toy boxes throughout the year, days out, cinema trips for families.
“We only have few staff and so I am hoping that the local community will get behind my son Jake and help give a smile to a child in refuge.
“There are so many ways that local businesses and the community can be involved. I have reached out to a few close friends that have their own businesses to ask if they would have a tree with gift tags.
“These children deserve so much and a smile is just something we like to bring to their face every year.
“Whether that be toy box appeal, days out or activity days, any help is gratefully appropriated.”
