Cash on offer for new Co-op sites

Lincolnshire Co-op is offering thousands of pounds for people to fund sites for new shops.

The company will pay £5,000 to anyone who makes a successful suggestion for a new site.
Thirty new convenience stores could be opened within the next three years.
The move will see an increase of around a third of the number of stores.
Following a £1.8m investment a store near Grimsby opened in late June and is the first of many new outlets.
More than £10m has already been committed to developing the next five stores in Lincolnshire.
“We have an ambition to be the UK’s fastest growing co-operative, and we are keen to deliver even more valued services,” said Steve Leach, Lincolnshire Co-op’s Chief Operating Officer.
“We are driven by our purpose, which is to make life better in our communities. Having a presence in mor communities means we are able to make even more of an impact,” he said.
When members shop with their dividend card, the society donates to a local good cause or group through its Community Champions scheme.
It has raised money for more than 200 local breakfast clubs, with the ambition to support them for the next three years. Members also receive discounts with local businesses and attractions.
An online form is available for residents to complete with the details of potential locations for new stores.
If it is taken-up and the shop opens, then £5,000 is given to the ‘finder’.
The form includes sections for existing buildings which could be bought, or empty land suitable for a convenience store.
The form can be found at https://findournextstore.co.uk
The company is involved with a range of community projects, including Healthy Activities and Food. It is a free holiday club for children who receive free school meals. More than 130 shared £12,000 of vouchers.
