Spalding United slipped to their eighth Evo-Stik NPL First Division South defeat on the trot on Saturday as they went down 2-1 at Corby Town, while ten-man Holbeach United saw off Deeping Rangers 1-0 in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division.
Starting with Spalding, Ben Davison’s 15th-minute header gave them a first-half lead against high-flying Corby – but that was as good as it got.
Ben Bradshaw levelled on 22 minutes to make it 1-1 at the break, before Cameron Healey (57) and Phil Trainer (70) sealed the points for the Steelmen.
The loss sees Spalding stay 15th ahead of the home Boxing Day clash with Peterborough Sports (3pm).
Holbeach, meanwhile, ground out a battling 1-0 victory over title rivals Deeping at Carter’s Park.
Luke Avis scored the only goal on 18 minutes, but Seb Hayes’ side had to play all of the second half with ten men after Mitch Griffiths was sent off for an elbow.
The win moves Holbeach back up to second in the ChromaSport UCL Premier Division ahead of the Boxing Day derby at third-placed Wisbech Town (3pm).
On Friday night, UCL Division One leaders Pinchbeck United thrashed Blackstones 4-1 at the Sir Halley.
The goals came from Andrew Tidswell, Josh Smith (2) and Ollie Maltby.
Pinchbeck, who are seven points clear at the top, visit Harrowby next on December 27 (7.45pm).
